Meet Dr. Janet Kan
Committed to improving your oral health
For me, being a dentist means providing a caring atmosphere for my patients. I enjoy partnering with them to achieve their oral health goals.
We serve Calgary’s complex, diverse community and each person has their own stories to share. Our conversations foster a bond and I find I learn from my patients.
It’s essential each person understands their unique dental health situation and all options for addressing issues. I spend time talking with patients, providing information to ensure they are able to make informed decisions about treatment.
My goal is to make visiting our office as pleasant as possible, especially for people who are nervous about seeing the dentist. Here, we strive to help people work through their fears, overcome past negative experiences, and learn that today’s dentistry can be more of a pleasant experience. Nothing is more rewarding than when someone tells me that their procedure was a good experience!
Meet Dr. Paul Chapman
Patients’ Welfare is the Top Priority
I’ve been practicing dentistry for more than 40 years; during that time I have always made each patient’s wellbeing the priority. Whether that means referring a person to a specialist for a procedure or encouraging them to seek a second opinion, it’s about what’s in their best interests, not ours. It’s essential patients know we want them to be comfortable, fully informed, and excited to part of caring for their oral health.
During the years I’ve been a dentist I’ve had the opportunity to meet and build an honest, respectful rapport with many people. It’s an honor to now be seeing second and third generations for the same family. I truly cannot imagine a stronger show of confidence in the dental care we provide.
I am passionate about working closely with each patient, eliminating dental disease, teaching and supporting them as they improve their health and, above all, celebrating their success in life. I look forward to coming to the office every day because it’s not about me: it’s about the people.
Executive Assistant and Dental Assistant
I love being an advocate for our patients and strive to make sure their clinical and personal needs are met. I want each person to feel safe, welcome, and to be happy with their care. I have been practicing for more than 40 years, and have worked for all three owners during that time.
I manage the business office. I answer patients questions, handle insurance matters on patients behalf, and look after booking and treatment planning. With more than 40 years of experience as a dental assistant I am able to help patients understand all aspects of their care.
I have three wonderful grandkids who call me “Granny Smith” whom I spend every spare moment with. I also have two small dogs and I’m an avid reader, creative crafter, and enjoy travelling.
Registered Dental Assistant II
I am happy to build relationships with our patients and help each feel comfortable at our office. I’ve been with the practice since 1999 and love that I’m still seeing and helping many of the same families.
My duties as a dental assistant are comprehensive and varied in our office. I perform many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. I enjoy working directly, yet independantly with the dentist to provide a high level of dental treatment for our patients in a caring and compassionate enviroment.
My husband Doug and I enjoy volunteering with PALS at the Calgary Airport. I also like road cycling and international travel.
Registered Dental Assistant II
I enjoy making sure every patient has a pleasant, comfortable visit and leaves smiling and healthier. I joined the field in 1996 and became part of our office family in 2004. We have a positive, encouraging office, and our patients are always cared for.
I prepare the treatment area, seat our patient, and prep them for the procedure, explaining what will happen. Working chairside, I assist the doctor while checking that our patient is comfortable. When finished, I provide post-op instructions and make sure our patient is happy with the care they’ve received.
I grew up in Lethbridge, moved away for University, and came to Calgary after. I’m happily married, have two great kids, and a 170 lbs. Bull Mastiff, too! Outside of work, spending as much time as possible with my family is where my heart is.
I enjoy talking and laughing with our patients, building a bond of trust. It's important people know we’re here to help them and offer comfortable dental care. My career in the field started in 1994 in British Columbia and in 2001 I joined the team.
I work one-to-one with patients, helping them improve their oral and overall health. While assessing their dental health and gently cleaning their teeth, I teach people why it’s important to practice good home oral hygiene. I want people to have lifetimes of healthy, happy smiles!
I enjoy travelling, gardening and my ragdoll cats. Everyone knows me as the Maritimer.
I enjoy establishing great relationships with people. I started in the field as a dental assistant in 1986 and then went back for a diploma in dental hygiene in 1993. I’ve been part of our team since 2003.
Working closely with patients, I spend time educating them about dental health and encouraging them to take care of their smiles!
Outside of work, I enjoy time with my husband and my university-bound son. As most of my patients know, I love to travel! I always enjoy hearing about others’ travel adventures.
I am happy getting to know patients and reaching a trusting, comfort zone with each. I’m happiest when a patient takes control of their oral health and achieves positive results they can see! I started my dental career with this practice in 1993 and have loved every day since.
My goal is help people improve and maintain optimal oral health. I provide thorough and gentle cleanings and alert patients and the doctors to signs of oral lesions, tooth decay, or gum disease. My focus is always on educating and encouraging patients to develop great home oral hygiene routines.
When not working, carpooling, or managing my family’s hectic schedule, I enjoy time with my three busy teenage daughters. They bring forward interesting thoughts and ideas, often encouraging me to look at things differently. When schedules align, we escape to our favorite Mexican resort or our extended family gathering place in Windermere, BC.
