Dentures

Dentures help you get a flawless, complete smile. If you no longer have your natural teeth or have several missing teeth, dentures can be your solution to achieve that complete smile. A denture is a removable prosthetic replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Depending on your oral condition, we’ll recommend you the best fit from the two types of dentures we provide.

TYPES OF DENTURES

Complete Dentures

Complete or full dentures replace all of the natural teeth in either the maxillary (upper) or mandibular (lower) jaw. If you have lost all your natural teeth, complete dentures can be the best fit for you. Complete dentures are further classified into two categories - conventional and immediate. Conventional complete dentures can be fitted in the mouth about 10 to 12 weeks after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal. As the name suggests, the immediate complete dentures are pre-made and fitted in the mouth as soon as the teeth are extracted.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are recommended when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. The gaps are filled with a bridgework of artificial teeth, also known as partial dentures, and by placing the crowns on adjacent natural teeth. The removable partial denture or bridgework is attached to a pink or gum-colored acrylic base, which is sometimes connected by a metal framework. Partial dentures offer the benefit of preventing the natural teeth from shifting and becoming misaligned.

How Long Does It Take To Make Dentures?

Conventional complete dentures and partial dentures need to be custom-made according to your teeth and gum structure. It typically takes 2 to 3 weeks to produce these dentures. Immediate complete dentures are pre-made and are readily available to be fixed in your mouth right after tooth extraction.

How Do We Provide Denture Treatment?

Producing and fixing a denture requires precision. The procedure requires you to visit us multiple times so that we can provide the finished prosthesis that perfectly suits you.

We begin with a thorough check-up to evaluate your dental condition and suggest the right type of dentures to you. If you are recommended partial dentures, we schedule an additional examination to get radiographs to evaluate whether your teeth are strong enough to support a denture. We then take impressions of your mouth, using a soft putty-like material. On your next visit, we will have another set of impressions taken using trays for even more accurate models of your mouth. In this visit, you can also select your dentures' size, shape, material, and color. We then move on to the try-in step wherein we give you a dummy denture to try in your mouth. This way, we will infer whether the denture needs any adjustments. In the third visit, your finished denture will be given to you.

Denture treatment isn’t as painful and complicated as it may typically be perceived. It is normal to experience a small amount of irritation, but this disappears as your mouth becomes adjusted to your dentures. Don’t let your missing teeth impact your radiant smile, book an appointment with us to get dentures.
